                                                                                       August 2017

Dear Parents,

I’m very appreciative of your support this year and advanced planning that will help your students be prepared for the new school year. The first day of school is Tuesday, August 22nd and I couldn’t be more excited!

My hope is that your fifth grader will be independently organized and prepared each day.  The following is a list of supplies that will be useful to them throughout the year. Students should have these supplies by the first day of school:

      1.  1” (one inch) binder with plastic inserts on front and back cover

      2.  A set of tab dividers labeled:

My Class, Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies

    3. 1 pocket folder to be used for homework

      4. 1 package of lined paper (3 hole punched) –

place some sheets in the binders, keep the rest at home for homework

    5. A pencil box or zip bag to keep supplies in (must be able to fit inside the desk!)

      6.  3 sharpened pencils (wood/mechanical) ready to write each morning

      7.  Color pencils: a pack of 12 (or more if you would like)

Please let me know if there is difficulty in providing these supplies and I will be glad to provide the items for your child.

Items that I will supply for students: Students will receive a personal planner on the first day of school.  These planners will be used daily in class.  Students will also receive notebooks for different subjects.  We have markers, glue, pens, rulers, and scissors for students to use in the classroom.

I am also including the following “Wish List” of things that would be greatly appreciated if you would like to donate supplies to our classroom.

Tissues (for noses)

Paper Towels (we wash our hands a lot because of in-class computer/iPad use)

Disinfectant wipes (we wipe our tables often for health and working with tech devices)

Hand Sanitizer

Colored copy paper

Dry erase markers

Glue sticks, Pencils, Small Scissors

Small prizes for rewards and incentives

For this class, a $20.00 class donation is a suggested amount, though not required at all.  This money will be used for materials and class experiences. Thank you so much for all of your support and encouragement to your children.  I am looking forward to having an incredible class to work with!
